Best sourdough pizzas in Bristol

"The Bristol Stable" in Bristol, England, is a popular restaurant known for its unique combination of handcrafted sourdough pizzas, an impressive selection of regional ciders, and a vibrant atmosphere. Situated on the picturesque Harbourside, one of the city's liveliest quarters, it offers a relaxed ambiance with views of the water, attracting both locals and tourists seeking an authentic taste of the West Country. The restaurant is part of the Stable chain, renowned for its love of local ingredients and traditional British beverages, and has made a name for itself in Bristol—not least for its reputation as one of the best live music venues in the city.

Vibrant restaurants at Harbourside

The interior of the Bristol Stable is a real eye-catcher, embodying the so-called "warehouse chic." With exposed brick walls, terracotta floors, and an open kitchen, it radiates a rustic elegance that invites guests to linger. Large windows let in plenty of natural light and provide a stunning view of the harbor, making the dining experience both visual and culinary. Especially in the evenings, the Stable often transforms into a lively stage when local musicians perform, allowing guests to enjoy the night with cider and pizza. This blend of gastronomy and culture makes it a place that offers much more than just a meal.

Authentic cider experiences in Bristol

Culinary-wise, the Bristol Stable is known for its high-quality sourdough pizzas topped with fresh, local ingredients. A highlight is the "West Country Wagyu," a pizza featuring juicy Wagyu beef, caramelized onions, and a creamy béchamel sauce—a refined combination that still preserves the rustic character of the establishment. Equally popular is the "Blazing Saddle," which features spicy chorizo and red chilies for a zesty kick, perfectly paired with a cool cider. In addition to pizzas, there are also delicious sides like "Tater Tots," crispy potato bites often served with melted cheese or a spicy sauce. For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert menu offers tempting options like a warm chocolate brownie, which rounds off the meal with its fudgy texture and a scoop of ice cream.

Lively live music events Bristol

The drinks menu is a paradise for cider lovers, as the Stable proudly presents one of the most extensive cider selections in the region. From dry, traditional West Country ciders to fruity, modern varieties, there’s something for every taste. The cider taster is particularly recommended, a set of several small glasses that allows guests to sample different varieties and discover the diversity of this traditional British specialty. The offerings are complemented by a solid selection of craft beers and wines, while non-alcoholic options like homemade lemonades or soft drinks are also available. The bar itself serves as a central meeting point where guests gather before or after their meals to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere.

Rustic elegance in restaurants

The Bristol Stable is a community hub suitable for various occasions—be it a casual evening with friends, a family dinner, or a date overlooking the harbor. It is also known for its flexibility, offering both takeaway options and space for larger groups who can reserve in advance. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, often ready to provide recommendations for cider pairings or current live music events, making the visit even more personal. Its proximity to cultural attractions like the Arnolfini or the M Shed also makes it an ideal stop after a day of exploration.

The pizza was great. Atmosphere was great. Service poor. Waited nearly an hour for pizza not sure if this was a we did not tip when ordering the food. This is not America why would I tip when I haven't even ordered yet? Especially as we had to get up and order our selves. When we sat down a member of staff came over while we was looking at the menu and goes "pick that up" and points at the menu, only minor but shows a lack of respect. Then after nearly an hours wait one of the members of staff starts pushing the pizza onto my chest while clumsily serving the food. Then made a snide remark to my girlfriend when taking our trays away once we had finished as she was looking out the window and did not see or hear him. Honestly won't be going back there if you think passive aggressive behaviour towards a customer is good your entitled.

We came here in a rush. They said the food would be 15 minutes, they were spot on. Staff were lovely and attentive. Food was amazing too! Very happy indeed ☺️

I had the Slice of Bristol pizza and it was delicious 😋 Really friendly staff and great pizza ambience. We were a party of over 12 and all the food arrived at the same time, apart from one pizza that was checked as it came out of the oven and they decided it was overcooked so apologised and cooked another one. Will definitely be back.

"Fabulous food cider and beer" this was a precovid review. Jan 25. Menu has gone downhill.the lovely pies gone. Pizza selection is now quite poor unless you like eveything hot. Today had a "baller" pizza. Meatballs tastles, ham hardly any flavour. Sweetcorn 8 peices of sweetcorn on a half, alioli lacked garlic flavour. Tomatoe sauce poor flavour. All in all not coming here again. Have been a supporter since it first opened. Pizzas now are not as good as a supermaket pizzas. Dissapointed

Pizzería de batalleo, nada de pizzas italianas de calidad. Es un local en la zona de marcha donde se junta la gente a beber y comer. No es el mejor restaurante de Bristol pero puede valer para una noche.

Love the variety of pizzas. However the drinks are quite expensive. Thanks for accepting blue light card discount as that lowered the pizza price atleast. Best pizza being " the baller".
